The archaeodendrometric study was carried out on a painted panel depicting the Holy Family, truncated on either side of the Virgin. The residual panel is 16 cm wide and 42 cm high. Signs of cutting remain on its chamfered edges and lower section, while the back retains tool marks associated with grading the wood.
An oak felled after 1484
The oak was certainly felled after 1484, and possibly during the 1510–1520 period. The board was cut by radial splitting, a practice used to obtain fine, straight-grained boards suited to painted panels.
